Through online events and a permanent digital collection, the campaign seeks to amplify the human stories of Gaza while supporting initiatives that help restore dignity, food security and hope for affected families.

For more than 60 years, AMURT and AMURTEL have worked alongside communities affected by conflict, poverty, disasters, and displacement.
Active in over 80 countries, our mission goes beyond emergency relief. We believe that humanitarian action should not only address immediate needs, but also help restore dignity, strengthen resilience, and create opportunities for long-term recovery.
Standing With Gaza
Since the beginning of the current humanitarian crisis, AMURT and AMURTEL have been supporting communities across Gaza through local volunteer teams working under extraordinarily difficult conditions.
In Gaza City, Khan Younis, Deir al-Balah, and Al-Mawasi, we have helped provide:

More Than Survival
Humanitarian recovery is about more than meeting immediate needs.

Within displacement camps, children need more than shelter. Through emergency learning spaces, they are able to learn, play, reconnect with routines, and experience moments of safety and stability amid conflict and displacement.
For many children, education becomes a pathway toward healing, resilience, and hope.
That is why our work combines emergency relief with education, food security, livelihood support, and community-based recovery — helping families move beyond survival and toward a more dignified future.

About the Campaign
Art for Gaza is an international artistic initiative that brings together creators from around the world to use art as a force for awareness, compassion and action.
The campaign has three stages
Online Event
Selected artists present their work in a live international event, accompanied by readings from official humanitarian reports documenting the reality in Gaza.
Permanent Collection
The artworks become part of a curated digital collection available to the public, with proceeds supporting humanitarian projects that restore food security and dignity.
Our Purpose
This campaign seeks to:
Give artists a platform to respond to humanitarian suffering.
Create awareness through artistic expression.
Preserve the human stories behind the statistics.
Raise funds for families rebuilding food security.

The Power of Art
Art for Gaza was born from the belief that artists are not merely observers of history—they are among those who shape it.
To help support and expand this initiative, we are calling on artists from around the world to contribute to an online event and a curated digital collection dedicated to Gaza. This collection will serve two purposes: to create space for reflection and collective awareness, and to raise funds that will directly support families participating in the Green Tent Initiative.
The intention is also to highlight the role of art in society as a catalyst for social awareness and collective action.

The Humanitarian Reality in Gaza
For generations, Gaza has been a place of extraordinary cultural richness, resilience, and deep human connection. Home to more than two million people, it has long been known for its vibrant communities, centuries-old traditions, artists, teachers, farmers, and families whose daily lives reflected the same hopes shared by people everywhere: to raise children in safety, cultivate the land, learn, create, and dream of a better future.

Today, that human fabric has been profoundly torn.
The ongoing war has created one of the most severe humanitarian crises of the twenty-first century. Entire neighborhoods have disappeared beneath the rubble. Hospitals have struggled to function under immense pressure. Schools, universities, cultural centers, and places of worship have been damaged or destroyed. Essential infrastructure — including water systems, sanitation networks, roads, electricity, and communications — has suffered widespread devastation, making everyday survival extraordinarily difficult.
Mass Displacement
According to the United Nations, the overwhelming majority of Gaza's population has been displaced, often multiple times, forced to leave their homes with little more than what they could carry. Families who once lived in established neighborhoods now reside in temporary shelters, overcrowded camps, schools converted into emergency accommodation, or improvised tents, facing constant uncertainty about their future.
Displacement does not merely mean losing a house. It means losing the routines that give life stability: children's education, neighborhood relationships, employment, healthcare, personal belongings, and the quiet dignity of daily life. For many, every day has become a struggle to secure clean water, food, medicine, and safety.
Children Bear the Heaviest Burden
Children have experienced repeated displacement, prolonged interruptions to education, exposure to violence, separation from loved ones, and profound psychological distress. Humanitarian organizations have consistently described Gaza as one of the most challenging environments in the world for children's well-being, with an entire generation growing up amid instability and trauma.
Healthcare at the Brink
Medical professionals continue to work under extraordinary conditions, often with limited supplies, damaged facilities, interrupted electricity, and overwhelming numbers of patients. Access to essential medicines, surgical equipment, maternal care, and treatment for chronic illnesses has become increasingly difficult.
Water and Sanitation Crisis
Water and sanitation systems have suffered extensive damage, creating additional public health risks. For many families, obtaining safe drinking water has become a daily challenge. Limited access to sanitation and hygiene increases the risk of disease outbreaks.
Unprecedented Food Insecurity
The United Nations and humanitarian agencies have repeatedly warned that large portions of Gaza's population face acute food insecurity. Markets have struggled to operate, supply chains have been severely disrupted, and access to nutritious food has become increasingly uncertain for countless families.
While emergency food assistance remains essential, humanitarian experts consistently emphasize that sustainable recovery requires more than the distribution of aid alone. Communities also need the means to rebuild their own capacity to produce food, restore livelihoods, and regain economic independence.

Frequently Asked Questions
Artists from every country are welcome to participate — both professional and emerging, working individually or as part of a collective. There is no participation fee, no age limit, and no restriction on nationality. The only requirement is that the work submitted be original and inspired by the themes of the campaign: Gaza, hope, memory, dignity, resilience, peace, justice, and human solidarity.

What is the GREEN TENT Initiative
What is the GREEN TENT Initiative?
95% of Agricultural land in Gaza has been destroyed. People of Gaza are almost entirely dependent on occupation forces for food, and the tiny trickle of aid that despite all odds manages to reach them.
The Green Tent initiative is a movement sponsored by AMURT/EL to enable Gaza's displaced families living precariously in tents, the dignity of being able to grow their own vegetables, inside or outside their tents.

Funds are raised in two ways. First, during the online event and through the donate page on this site, supporters can make direct contributions to the campaign. Second, in Phase 3, visitors to the digital collection will be able to 'support an artwork' — making a donation inspired by a specific piece. 100% of funds raised (after payment processing fees) go to AMURT and AMURTEL's humanitarian projects in Gaza, focused on the Green Tent Initiative — restoring food security through seeds, seedlings, tools, and community gardens.
